What are Global Templates?

Global Templates in Campaign Automator allow you to efficiently create and maintain campaigns across multiple accounts using a single, reusable template. This feature is particularly helpful if you’re managing campaigns with consistent account structures and similar data feeds.

The Global Template will work with your structural data feeds to create and update campaigns, ad groups, ads, and keywords. With a Global Template, you can:

  • Create campaigns for multiple accounts without needing account-specific templates.

  • Manage updates centrally, applying changes across all linked accounts.

When to Use Global Templates

You can use Global Templates if you have:

  • Consistent Account Structures: Your accounts follow the same campaign structure.

  • Similar Data Feeds: The data feeds for your accounts share the same column headers.

  • Automation Requirements: You want to update campaigns across accounts regularly with the latest data.

How to Set up a Global Template

1. Link a Global Data Feed:

Instead of linking separate data feeds to each account, link a Global Data Feed. The Global Data Feed should include:

  • A list of accounts for which you want to run the template.

  • Corresponding data feeds for each account.

Note: Global Templates supports data feeds only in Spreadsheet format.

2. Create a Template:

  • Define the Campaign Structure: Add how your campaigns, ad groups, ads, and keywords will be organized and created.

  • Align columns with Data Feed Headers: Ensure that the structure of your template corresponds to the column headers in your data feed. Each element of the template must be mapped to specific columns in the data feed of the account you are managing. If the columns in the data feed do not match those used in the template, the system will not generate any suggestions.

3. Preview Suggestions:

The system previews suggestions by matching the template with the data feed for the selected account. If the columns match, the template generates campaign suggestions.

4. Apply Changes:

  • Approve the suggestions to apply changes to campaigns.

  • You can also set the template to run automatically at scheduled intervals.

Use Cases

Global Templates are especially beneficial for industries or scenarios where campaign structures and messaging are standardized across accounts.

For example, in the automotive industry, advertisers typically create campaigns for the brand and ad groups for the model. Their ads often follow a consistent template, highlighting the vehicles' pricing and features. Instead of creating multiple templates for each account, you can use a single Global Template across all accounts, ensuring uniformity and saving time.
