When will I receive the email with a quick recap of my active alerts?
If you have any triggered alerts (either the ones you set up or automatic ones from Optmyzr), you will receive only one email per day after 12PM. The time that email is being sent will be based on the timezone associated with the majority of all your accounts connected to Optmyzr. This will be selected as the default timezone to send the email to all the team members in your Optmyzr account.
When are alerts triggered?
Alerts will be triggered anytime during the day, and all metric alerts associated with a specific account will get triggered together. Accounts with the same time zone will get triggered within a few minutes difference.
On the Alerts tray, you will see indications such as 3 hours ago to let you know when it was last updated. Please note that the information received in the email at 12 PM might be outdated, in case the alert was triggered again recently.
By editing an alert, our system will automatically update the new values on the Alert page, so you won’t need to wait to know the latest data associated with all the KPIs for that particular account.
As soon as an alert is triggered for an account, you will be notified over Slack and Microsoft Teams.
Who Receives the Alerts?
Whoever is the owner of the alert set up on the page will receive the alerts. We do not allow you to save an alert unless at least one team member is selected to be notified for metric or budget alerts on the Alert settings page.
By default, all alert notifications will be sent over email to the Account owner, which is specified on the All Accounts Dashboard, and any team member who starred the specific account.
In case there is no account owner and no team member has starred that account, and the person who created the alert has unsubscribed from the alert email, by default, the Optmyzr subscription owner will be notified (over email and slack if enabled).
How to Stop Receiving alerts?
You have the option to snooze the alerts created on the same alert settings page. If you want to stop receiving them altogether, then you should delete the alert.
If you wish to see alerts but not be notified over email, you can disable the Account Performance Updates on the Preferences page available in Settings. Please note that you will also stop receiving the weekly email with the recap of the top-performing accounts.
How to send Alerts to Multiple Team Members?
You can have multiple owners for all types of alerts, including Multi-Account budgets. You'll see this option while creating or editing an alert.
Do the account alerts check unlinked accounts?
The system will only check the accounts that are active and show the alerts for those accounts only.
If I create an alert today, when will it start getting triggered?
If alerts are created today, the system will trigger them tomorrow, as it is a scheduled process. You can refer to "How do I refresh alert data for my accounts?" to learn how to receive the notifications for an account right away.
Which labels are supported?
We support Google Ads and Microsoft Ads labels (not Optmyzr labels).
How are the Bid strategy and Label level alerts managed?
The system calculates the average of all the campaigns with a particular Bid strategy or Label and, based on that, triggers an alert.
Do you take care of access levels while showing the alerts?
Yes, the alerts will be shown to those accounts who have access to the information as per the previously defined access levels.
What happens when I edit an existing alert?
On the alert settings page, if you modify/edit an alert and click on save, our system will automatically refresh all the alerts associated with that specific PPC account. When you review your alerts, you will see the latest data for all the active alerts associated with that account.
Any account for which alerts were re-triggered will be shown as 'Last Checked 1h ago'. If you have enabled Slack notifications, you will have received notifications for the alerts that were re-triggered on Slack as well.
This allows you to have the latest data available for your alert without waiting for the automatic update to have to happen at the scheduled time later in the day.
Do the alerts also flag out when there is a positive deviation from the target?
No, the Account Alerts are only meant to notify you when there is a negative performance in your selected target.
How is the severity of an alert and its deviation calculated?
The severity of an alert is calculated by taking the difference in relative value between the current value and the target value.
The deviation of the alert is calculated by taking the difference in absolute value between the target value and the current value.
For an automatic alert, the severity is calculated by taking the difference between the last 4 weeks' average data (which is considered the current value) and the last 8 weeks' average data (which is considered the target value).
Over email, you will be notified of the Current Value compared to the Target Value. The severity is indicated by the percentage off target.
How is the automatic target calculated?
We take an average of 8 weeks of data to calculate the automatic target.
For the current value being displayed, we consider the average in the last 28 days, while the target is the average of the past 8 weeks.
Note: For automatic goal value, the target will be updated every time the alert is triggered. You can see the target value by clicking on the "i" icon to see the trend chart.
Can I create a duplicate alert for the same metric and for the same set of campaigns?
Yes, you can create multiple alerts for the same metric and set of campaigns but with different settings.
Why doesn't the data for the Quality Score alert match?
The data for the Quality Score alert may not always match because we don’t consider the Quality Score for the previous day. This is because the Quality Score may not have been updated for the previous day for the account because of its time zone.
The Quality Score data is pulled from the Google Ads API in the PST time zone.
How do I refresh alert data for my accounts?
On the alerts setting page, you can select any alert associated with the account you want to refresh data for. Once you have the settings panel open, simply clicking on Edit and then Save (without making any changes), will get our system to update the information associated with all active alerts for that account.
If the system detects an alert, you will receive a notification for it on your chosen channels (email, Slack, etc.)
Are the automatic anomaly alerts sent for Cost, Clicks, and Impressions only sent for Google Ads accounts or for every account linked with Optmyzr?
The alerts system triggers alerts for anomalies on all platforms, except for Amazon and Yahoo.
What does the Number of days of recent data to ignore (0 to 14) mean?
When you set up a metric alert, at any level, you can define an offset. This would mean we would push back the data by these many numbers of days. This can be used especially to take care of conversion delays. We usually recommend between 1 to 14 days.
How to receive a Rule Engine strategy suggestion as an alert?
Open the strategy you wish to be notified of on the Rule Engine page, and click on the automate button.
There are four different automation options that give you different levels of control. You can choose one or more options while setting up the automation. Select the option "Add to alerts".
This option will automatically generate an alert and send it to your Triggered Alerts side tray in Optmyzr when there are suggestions available. It is a great way to get notified when suggestions are available based on your own custom strategy.
The following members will be notified and will be able to see it as part of their alerts:
Users who own the account for which the alert was added
Users who starred account
If you have enabled our Slack integration, you will receive the alert there as well.
Note: You will only be alerted if you have starred the account or are the defined account owner from MCC. Setting up the alert or adding multiple recipients will only work for email notifications.
How to stop receiving notifications for Monthly Budget Alerts set up on the All Accounts Dashboard?
If you do not wish to be alerted over email every day, you can disable the notifications associated with the monthly budget, by clicking on the delete icon on the alerts settings page. The information will remain on the All Accounts Dashboard, but Optmyzr will no longer send you notifications for the same.
If you want to remove these alerts from multiple accounts, you'll be able to select multiple alerts at once and delete them in bulk.
How can I receive alerts on a different channel on Slack than the Optmyzr default one?
It's possible to have alerts from Optmyzr be directly forwarded to a Slack channel you created from your email. To do so, please follow the steps below (Gmail only):
You can create an email address for your channel inside Slack by following the steps here.
Once done, add this email address as a forwarding address to your email from this page.
Once you click on Create a Filter, make sure to add your forwarding address (your Slack channel email address) and other options (such as skip inbox, etc.) as preferred.
This will ensure that all alerts sent to your email will start appearing in your Slack channel.
Please note that, for this to work, all your alerts from Optmyzr must be received at your email address.
Another alternative is using the Rule Engine. To do so, please follow the steps below (Gmail only):
You can create an email address for your channel inside Slack by following the steps here.
Once this is done, add this email address to your Rule Engine.
Why does the search impression share metric on the trend chart in the triggered alert’s side tray differ from that on the Account Dashboard?
The discrepancy occurs because, by default, the Account Dashboard includes data for paused campaigns too, while the Alerts system considers only active campaigns. If you uncheck "Show Paused Campaigns" in the “All Campaigns” filter on the Account Dashboard, the displayed value will closely align with the one on the Alerts’ trend chart.
Even after excluding active campaigns, a slight difference may persist. This is because the system uses campaign-level data to trigger alerts. For metrics like Search Impression Share, obtaining precisely accurate account-level data from the API is challenging. To address this, we combine campaign-level data for all campaigns in the account, leading to a figure that might slightly differ from what you observe on Google Ads and the Account Dashboard.
