Why does the tool not exclude placements on 'youtube.com'?
Google does not allow placement exclusions for any URL associated with a Google domain like youtube.com or mail.google.com (Read more). Therefore, the tool will not include these URLs in its exclusions list.
However, it's important to note that placement exclusions for specific YouTube channels are not restricted, and the tool will work with them as intended.
Does the Smart Exclusions Tool work for Performance Max Campaigns?
Yes, the Smart Exclusions Tool does function for Performance Max Campaigns. The tool adds all exclusions as Account-Level Exclusions, not to the Shared Placement Exclusions list. Performance Max Campaigns consider all placement exclusions added at the account level.
However, it's important to note that the tool cannot analyze a PMax campaign to identify exclusions specific to that particular campaign.
Why does the estimated cost for the tool not change when I change the placement exclusion thresholds in the Advanced Settings?
The cost that we calculate as the estimate for the first month is based on wasted spend for the past 30 days i.e., 20% of the ad spend wasted (in the last 30 days) on non-performing placements.
If you choose to exclude specific placements using advanced settings before activating the tool, it's challenging to predict precisely how much spend will be saved in the following month, and hence the tool's estimate is based on historical data.
Does the Smart Exclusions tool consider location and language settings of the ad account when suggesting placements?
Currently, the Smart Exclusions tool suggests placements based solely on performance metrics. It does not take into account the location or language settings of the ad account.
