What is it?

Amazon made an important announcement concerning all sellers utilizing Sponsored Brand product collection ads on Amazon. As of August 30, 2024, a new requirement goes into effect, making custom images mandatory for these ad types without which ads will not be displayed.

To help you navigate this change, the account dashboard features a widget that identifies all such ads lacking custom image creative and helps you fix the issue. Let's dive into how this information can improve your advertising strategy.

What Does the Widget Provide?

The widget provides a snapshot of your Sponsored Brand product collection ads:

  1. Total Ads Without Custom Images: This number tells you how many product collection ads currently lack a custom image. Along with it, you can also see the number of campaigns and ad groups delivering these ads.

  2. Performance Over the Last 30 Days: Gain insights into the overall performance of these specific ads during the last 30 days.

  3. Detailed Table View: Click on ‘View Details’ to see the detailed data for the ads

Detailed View

The Detailed table gives you a list of all the ads that are missing custom images along with their respective campaigns and ad groups to help you find & fix them in the Amazon advertising console.

You can select multiple performance metrics like impressions, clicks, cost, ACoS, etc. using the column selector to get more insights. You can sort the data using any performance metric added in the dropdown and also download the data in an Excel sheet.

After viewing the report, you can go directly to the Amazon advertising console to fix the ads using the link provided in the widget.

Why Use Custom Images?

Statistics from Amazon show that Sponsored Brand ads with custom images typically experience:

  • Increased User Engagement: Eye-catching custom visuals can grab attention and entice users to click on your ads compared to those solely featuring product images.

  • Improved Brand Recognition: A well-designed custom image that reflects your brand identity can strengthen brand recall and recognition among potential customers.

By adding custom images, you can leverage these benefits and potentially improve the performance of your product collection ads.

Fixing Ads Without Custom Images

Here's how to address the ads identified by the widget:

  1. Log in to Amazon Advertising Console: Access your Amazon Advertising account through the console.

  2. Navigate to Your Campaigns: Locate the section where you manage your Sponsored Brand campaigns.

  3. Identify Campaigns with Missing Images: Use the information provided by the widget to pinpoint campaigns containing ads that lack custom images.

  4. Edit the Ads: Within each campaign, locate the affected ad groups and edit the individual ads using the 'Manage Creative' option.

Edit the creative and upload a custom image that meets Amazon's specifications.

By utilizing the widget's insights and taking action to add custom images, you can optimize your product collection ads for better user engagement and potentially boost your advertising success.
