The new reporting experience is now available in open beta, featuring design and functionality changes in tools. This guide will help you navigate the new interface, understand its features, and make the most of the improvements.
Getting Started
The new experience is now the default mode of the reporting tool, providing users with an intuitive and streamlined interface for enhanced usability. This updated design offers a seamless experience, allowing you to quickly familiarize yourself with the new layout and features.
You can switch between the old and new designs using the toggle option at the top right of the page. This allows you to compare and adjust to the changes at your own pace.
What’s New?
The new experience introduces several enhancements designed to improve usability and data interpretation.
Design and Usability Enhancements
A cleaner, more intuitive preview that improves readability and interpretation.
New color palettes for improved data visualization.
Refined widget layouts to reduce clutter and enhance the overall user experience.
Enhanced Widget Features
The reporting widgets have been improved with new design elements and additional functionality to provide a better analytical experience.
1. Number Abbreviation
Numerical values are now abbreviated to improve readability and prevent data overload.
Better alignment and spacing for quick scanning of insights.
Changes were made to Key Performance Indicators, Geo Heatmap, and PPC Investigator widgets.
2. Customizable Widget Designs
You can choose between two different design options for the following widgets:
KPI Widget: You can choose between tile and grid style.
Funnel Chart: You can choose between vertical and horizontal funnel.
PPC Investigator: You can either visualize percentage change along with initial and final value or see percentage change along with change value.
Previous and final values give deeper insight into campaign performance over time.
Performance Comparison: You can preview performance comparisons with bold line separators or light divisions.
3. Tables and Charts
The new tables have better spacing and data alignment, improving overall clarity. The visual hierarchy is more defined, with better header and column value distinctions.
The charts are now enclosed within a well-defined container with smooth edges, aligning with a structured report layout. Gridlines provide guidance without overwhelming the chart, maintaining a clean look.
4. Search Term Analysis
The search terms analysis design has a couple of new additions. It includes a color gradient at the bottom, labeled with the metric value used in the settings. It highlights the relation of the color boldness with the metric value, i.e. the darker the color, the greater the data value. It also includes the size indicator for the search term cloud.
The "Low Cost A → A High Cost" axis (as shown in the image below) provides further context about the relative cost (metric selected in settings) associated with the size of search terms.
The search term cloud is also more spacious to clearly represent and cover all the search terms you want to visualize.
5. Data Range and Campaign Data in Preview
Date range and campaign selection information is now displayed within the report preview.
The component tells you the account name, campaign(s) selected, and information about whether the widget uses all campaigns, specific campaign types, or anything else.
For the data comparison widgets, you can also see the two date ranges being compared.
This helps provide immediate clarity on the context and scope of the report, making it easier for teams and clients to interpret data correctly.
6. Edit and Preview User Flow
The preview option in the report editor adapts to your selected experience mode. If the ‘New Design’ toggle is enabled, the report preview page opens in the new design, while disabling it automatically loads the preview in the old design.
The new experience ensures a smooth transition between the editor and the preview page. Clicking "Preview" seamlessly switches to the preview screen within the same page. From the preview screen, you can easily return to the editor by clicking the "Edit" button, enabling quick adjustments to widget configurations without navigating away.
7. Downloading and Scheduling Reports
From the new preview page, you can start downloading and scheduling reports in the new design. Under report actions, you can access all the options to generate, download, or schedule new reports.
Existing schedules or report links that were created in old experience will continue to serve in the old design for some time until it gets deprecated. For new reports, we highly recommend to start using the new experience.
Providing Feedback
We are continuously working to improve the reporting experience. Please share your experience using the feedback button within the tool.
