What Is It?

The Explore Traffic Segments is a tool that lets you visualize your Google Analytics audiences' performance in Optmyzr.

In Google Analytics, a lot of times, it can be difficult to segment and visualize multiple audiences at the same time; however, using Explore Traffic Segments becomes very straightforward. This tool allows you to segment audiences by multiple dimensions and helps to visualize them easily.

For instance, you can check out the performance of multiple audiences in terms of their behavior, geography, and demographics - all at once. This can help you create targeted audiences for your Google Ads campaigns faster.

To use this tool, you first need to link your Google Analytics account to Optmyzr. You can read more here about how to link an account.

Why Use It?

With the tool, you can:

  1. Analyze multiple audience segments in one place without switching between different reports in Google Analytics.

  2. Identify high- and low-performing audiences based on behavior, demographics, and geography to make more informed targeting decisions.

  3. Simplify complex segmentation by applying filters and conditions to break down your data the way you need

How do I use it?

You can use this tool to visualize audience data by segmenting it by dimensions, metrics, or specific goals.

Set a date range.

You can filter data using a specific dimension. You can even slice and dice your data by adding parameters such as 'contains', 'equals', 'starts with', 'ends with', etc. for a much more detailed report.

Save custom views

The tool allows you to make changes to pre-defined views and save them for future use. Any changes in metrics, dimensions, date range, goals, or even filters can be saved. Make the required configuration, click the update button to view the data for changed settings, and select the 'Save View' option. You can either create a new view or edit an existing view. It can be saved at the personal or team level. Personal views would just be accessible to you.

To make it easier for you to get started, we have created pre-defined views based on geography, demographics, interests, etc. Just use the 'Pre-defined views' dropdown on the left to make use of that.

How to score an audience segment?

The traffic tag rates the particular segment based on the sessions and clicks received, on a scale of high, medium, or low.

How do I download segmented data?

Click 'Download Data' on the top right to download the segmented or filtered data. You can download it either as a CSV or an Excel file.

Use Cases

  1. Save and Reuse Custom Audience Views

Problem: You repeatedly create the same reports for performance analysis, which is time-consuming and inefficient.

Solution: Customize your view by selecting the required metrics, dimensions, filters, and date range, then save it as a personal or team view. Access these saved views anytime without reconfiguration.

  2. Analyze Audience Trends Over Time

Problem: You struggle to track how audience behavior changes over time, making it hard to adjust your strategy proactively.

Solution: Set specific date ranges and compare segmented data across different time periods. Use saved views to monitor trends regularly and identify shifts in audience performance.
