Successfully setup Invalid Traffic monitoring and blocking

This article aims to guide you through the process of setting up a Google Tag. The objective is to enable monitoring and activate Invalid Traffic Protection on the Google Ads account dashboard. The following are step-by-step instructions for achieving this.

Main Invocation Tag

Follow the steps below to implement the 'CHEQ for PPC' tag within your Google Tag Manager Workspace:

  1. Open the Google Tag Manager Workspace that you have set up for your website.

  2. Navigate to Tags and click 'New' in the upper right corner.

  3. Name your tag CHEQ

  4. Click the 'Tag Configuration' section

  5. Select 'Custom HTML' from the Tag Enter menu

  6. Copy and Paste the first tag (Javascript) into the HTML section

    1. Enable 'Support Document Write'

    2. Click 'Advanced Settings' and set the 'Tag Firing Priority' to 9999

  7. Click the 'Triggering' section

    1. Choose 'All Pages' from the 'Choose a Trigger' menu

  8. Click 'Save'

Validate and Publish

  1. In the Workspace tab, click the Preview button in the upper right corner. The Tag Assistant will open in a new browser tab

  2. Enter your website URL and click 'Connect'

  3. Your web page will open automatically in a new browser tab

  4. Return to the Tag Assistant browser tab

  5. Click 'Continue'

  6. Verify that the new tag is fired. This is listed under 'Tags Fire' on the opened Tag Assistant page for the Google container

  7. Click on the 'X' in the top right corner of the page to Leave debugging Mode

  8. Return to the Tag Manager browser tab

  9. Click 'Submit' in the top right corner of the workspace tab

  10. Click 'Publish' on the Submit Changes page
