What is it?

The Invalid Activity Protection widget in the Account Dashboard helps you monitor and block invalid traffic coming to your account, making it easier to know how much of your budget is being spent on invalid traffic that won't drive conversions.

This feature is in collaboration with Cheq, the #1 technology for detecting and monitoring invalid traffic. Their award-winning detection is highly reliable with industry-leading accuracy.

Enable Invalid Traffic Monitoring

You will find this functionality on your Google Ads account dashboard, under the Invalid Activity Protection widget.

  1. Click on 'Monitor & Block Invalid Traffic'

  2. Select the domain to monitor from the dropdown menu. Keep in mind that it's only possible to select one domain per account, which cannot be modified in the future.

Click 'enable' and follow the installation instructions from the pop-up, which include copying and pasting the script in step 1 as close as possible to the opening <head> tag on every page of the website, and copying and pasting the snippet in step 2 immediately after the opening <body> tag on every page as well.

Incorporating the tag into your website or webpage enables the tool to monitor and track its traffic. Additionally, it will also help differentiate between paid, direct, organic, and bot/malicious activities on the website.

You can find a detailed explanation for the code snippet here.

You can also read this step-by-step guide to implement the tag through Google Tag Manager.

Review Invalid Traffic

Once monitoring has been enabled, you'll see the 'Monitor & Block Invalid Traffic' option in the widget. Next to it, you'll see a number indicating the count of Invalid Traffic activities detected on your account.

Clicking on 'Monitor & Block Invalid Traffic' will open a side tray with more information on the domain's traffic, showing you the total traffic received during a particular date range (which can be modified using the dropdown), how much of that traffic was invalid, with a breakdown of where it is coming from, and threat groups.

It also gives you the option to 'Enable Blocking Invalid Traffic' (more details below)

Note: if the installation process hasn't been completed, the side tray will instead display the steps to follow to finalize the setup.

Disable Invalid Traffic Monitoring

You'll be able to disable monitoring at any time by clicking on the three-dot menu.

Enable Blocking Invalid Traffic

The widget's feature to block invalid traffic automatically blocks fraudulent activities coming from paid sources and ensures your budget won't be wasted on them. This functionality is not available for trial users.

Pricing

This is a paid feature, powered by our partner Cheq. It's charged per account, starting at a minimum of USD 39/mo/acc, and discounts are available when enabling the feature for more accounts.

Your billing will be on a monthly basis, calculated according to the usage of the previous month. This calculation takes into account the number of accounts in which the blocking feature is enabled and the total count of clicks for those Google Ads accounts.

For instance, if you are considering activating blocking for 3 accounts and their combined monthly click count is 50,000, you can estimate a total cost of $109 in addition to your Optmyzr subscription charges.

For custom pricing quotes or advanced blocking options that include direct or organic traffic, you can contact support@optmyzr.com.

Disable Blocking Invalid Traffic
