Campaign Automator - Automatically split campaigns when ad group limits are reached

Written by Dhiraj Sharma

When creating large campaigns, Google/Microsoft Ads imposes limits on the number of ad groups or asset groups that can be added to a single campaign. Instead of stopping campaign creation when one of these limits is reached, Campaign Automator can automatically create a new campaign and continue adding the remaining groups.

This helps ensure campaign creation completes without requiring manual intervention.

Note: This feature is currently available via feature access tag. If you don't see this option in your Campaign Attributes setup, reach out to support@optmyzr.com to have it enabled.

How it works

You can choose to automatically split campaigns from the Campaign Attributes section of the Campaign Automator setup.

Once you select the option, Campaign Automator monitors the applicable Google/Microsoft Ads limits. When a campaign reaches its limit, Optmyzr:

1. Creates a new campaign with the same settings as the original campaign.

2. Continues adding the remaining ad groups or asset groups to the new campaign.

3. Repeats this process if additional campaigns are needed.

Example:

- Campaign A

- Campaign A #1

- Campaign A #2

Each new campaign inherits the configuration of the original campaign, allowing campaign creation to continue seamlessly.

When are new campaigns created?

Campaign type

Campaign split occurs after

Search & Display

20,000 ad groups

Performance Max

100 asset groups

These thresholds are based on Google/Microsoft Ads limits and are applied automatically during campaign creation.

Budget handling

If the original campaign uses a shared budget, the new campaign is automatically added to the same shared budget.

If the original campaign uses its own budget, Optmyzr creates the new campaign with a default budget of 1. This allows the campaign to be created successfully. You can update the budget in Google/Microsoft Ads after campaign creation.
